Iva Bittová is an exceptional musician at the interface between classical music, traditional music and jazz. She accompanies herself on the violin and leads her audience on a voyage to discover the origins of voice and vocals. In her music she merges the influences of her Jewish and her Roma family, and mixes them into her own version of avant-garde, which is also influenced by the minimal music of her chosen home, the USA. There she has founded the singing school “Žingora – School of Voice”, which is also open to amateur musicians and has become a centre for collective singing. Bittová brings all these experiences with her to Osnabrück, in accordance with her motto: “I believe in the freedom of the voice.”
