Simin Tander new quartet & special guest Tord Gustavsen

The German-Afghan singer and composer Simin Tander is considered an extraordinary voice in contemporary jazz. After two highly acclaimed solo albums, she received the “German Record Critics' Annual Award” for her album "What was said" (2016) with the Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen. In the past 15 years, Simin has sung at international festivals in a wide variety of projects and has given concerts for UNESCO and UN Women. Born in Cologne, Simin Tander sings in English and in Pashto, the language of her Afghan father, who died young. With her voice, which is both delicate and powerful, she improvises in a way far removed from traditional scat singing. Simin creates a sound world full of mysticism and passionate freedom. Her celebrated current album "Unfading" is a homage to female poetry and introduces her 'new quartet'. Tord Gustavsen is one of the most prominent musicians in Scandinavia's rich jazz scene. With his sensitive jazz, influenced by Scandinavian folklore and chamber music, he has already released nine albums and has been touring successfully around the world for decades.
