Silk Blues - Wu Wei, Ingolf Burkhardt & Florian Weber
Location:Elbphilharmonie / Kleiner Saal
Wu Wei, sheng
Ingolf Burkhardt, trumpet
Florian Weber, piano
The Sheng (the Chinese mouth-blown organ) is one of the oldest instruments in Chinese music. Together with the trumpeter Ingolf Burkhardt and the pianist Florian Weber Wu Wei will show that this 3000 year old instrument still has a place in the music of today.
The three musicians invite you on a musical road trip – from the jazzy New York of the sixties to the Silk Road of today. The fuel for their trip is the Blues, which can either have the smoky urgency of a jazz club or the airy broadness of a melancholic Chinese melody. As their means of transport the trio have chosen the art of improvisation, of listening and then diving into the quite diverse musical ideas of their colleagues; in other words, the very essence of jazz.
The concert will be performed two times at 6:45pm and 8:45pm.
Tickets will be available at the beginning of March.
