Faraj Suleiman Trio
If you listen to his albums, there is a lot of "swing", quite a bit of singing and always a joy of playing. The Palestinian composer and pianist Faraj Suleiman is heavily influenced by Arabic melodies and rhythms, while also being inspired by Bach, Stravinsky and Piazzolla. There are also elements of western rock, jazz and Arabic-Egyptian pop music. From all this he creates an idiosyncratic mix: his spectrum ranges from compositions for solo piano to quartets, quintets, arrangements for choir and complete orchestra. The musician with a classical musical education is constantly looking for new forms of expression that appeal to his "Eastern" and "Western" audiences alike. In recent years he has released a number of albums and composed music for theatre and film, such as Ameen Nayfeh's award-winning film 200 Meters. He has performed internationally at major festivals, such as the London Jazz Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival. He will appear at the Morgenland Festival as a member of a trio.
