It presented marvellous artists from previous Festivals alongside new and exclusive constellations. The two legendary musicians Kayhan Kalhor and Alim Qasimov played as a duo for the first time ever. The BBC made a documentary film of the concert. The Morgenland All Star Band and an audience of over 2,000 braved the weather and put on a fascinating ‘Singing and Dancing in the Rain’, on and in front of the open air stage on the Markt in Osnabrück. This was followed by the encounter between the two top-notch jazz pianists Salman Gambarov and Florian Weber, as well as a moving premiere in the sold-out Cathedral when the two clarinettists Kinan Azmeh and Giora Feidman played together with the Osnabrück Youth Choir. The NDR Bigband had their first guest appearance with the Kurdish singer Aynur and the Tunisian singer Dhafer Youseff also made his first guest appearance at the Festival.

The finale was a concert by the Uighur rock band Qetiq. Perhat Khaliq, singer and head of the band, was ‘discovered’ in his home country of China, to some extent due to his appearance at the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück. In 2014 he was named “Musical Artist of the Year” in China.
