Double concert: Trio Ré & Mohsen Namjoo
Mohsen Namjoo was scheduled to appear at the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück in 2008. His visa had been issued and only needed to be stuck into his passport. However, it was not possible for him to get a valid passport. Thus, the concert had to be cancelled. At the time, Mohsen Namjoo, with his Setar, the Persian lute, was an insider tip in Tehran’s underground music scene. Because of his setting of verses from the Koran he was sentenced in his absence, and since lived firstly in Austria and then moved to New York, where he now lives. As an unorthodox singer-songwriter who combines traditional Persian music with rock and blues, he is now extremely popular, not just among the young people of Iran.
The double concert in the Lagerhalle will be opened by a young trio, which represents the next generation. The head of the Trio Ré is Makan Ashgvari, a singer and songwriter, actor and director, who regularly works with protagonists from Tehran’s artistic scene. His companions in Trio Rè are Ali Ghahremani on electric guitar and Sanaz Sattarzadeh on the long-necked lute, the tar.
