Double concert: Kinan Azmeh, Moslem Rahal, Florian Weber & Mohsen Namjoo

Mohsen Namjoo was scheduled to appear at the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück in 2008. His visa had been issued and only needed to be stuck into his passport. However, it was not possible for him to get a valid passport. Thus, the concert had to be cancelled. At the time, Mohsen Namjoo, with his Setar, the Persian lute, was an insider tip in Tehran’s underground music scene. Because of his setting of verses from the Koran he was sentenced in his absence, and since lived firstly in Austria and then moved to New York, where he now lives. As an unorthodox singer-songwriter who combines traditional Persian music with rock and blues, he is now extremely popular, not just among the young people of Iran.

The evening should normally be opened by the ensemble Trio Ré. For visa reasons this first part cannot take place. We are very sad about this situation. Fortunately we can offer you a beautiful alternative concert with amazing musicians at same time and same place: Moslem Rahal (ney), Kinan Azmeh (clarinet) and Florian Weber (piano). You can keep your tickets or hand them back at Lagerhalle. The second concert of this evening with Mohsen Namjoo takes place as planned.

8pm: Moslem Rahal (ney), Kinan Azmeh (clarinet) and Florian Weber (piano)

9:30pm: Mohsen Namjoo
